Lodge a Complaint

The Commission is mandated by the Telecommunications Act (2009) to regulate the telecommunications sector and as such, maintains its policy of assisting complainants to address complaints directly to their service provider, as the first step towards resolving individual problems. However, the Commission can be requested or may, of its own volition, carry out investigations into matters related to market, service providers, services, anti-competition or other such issues.

The Solomon Government is committed to providing Submarine Cable infrastructure for purposes of enhancing the national telecommunications network.

In a statement issued from the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Prime Minister is positive that despite ongoing concerns matters will be resolved amicably.

The statement also said that both the Solomon Islands and Australian Governments have been engaged in consultations on possible solutions to ensure delivery of this project.

The submarine cable is a key policy initiative of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government. The Solomon Islands Government together with its development partners, recognise that an undersea telecommunications cable will have significant impact in support of economic development within the country and are considering all available options.
