(TCSI): Solomon Islands’ largest mobile network and internet service provider, Our Telekom has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Certification.

The international certification is in recognition of the company’s achievement of the highest international standards in protecting its customers’ data and information through its Datacenter hosting and broadband network services.

In a press statement, Our Telekom’s CEO Arthur Yen commended his company’s team effort in achieving the company milestone.

“All the efforts over the years by our Information and Network Security team resulted in the company becoming a certified ISO/IEC 27001:2013 broadband internet and datacenter services provider. Moreover, this certification depicts Our Telekom’s ongoing commitments to information and Network Security protection for our Customers,” said the Our Telekom CEO.

ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is an information security standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards, and the International Electro technical Commission (IEC).

Commenting on the award, Our Telekom’s Information and Network Security Manager said the certification provided an assurance to the telco company’s customers that their corporate data were in safe hands.

Mr. Farhad James said that with Our Telekom’s internet services being recently connected to the high speed Coral Sea submarine cable, cybersecurity compliance would naturally be a top priority for the company’s internet and data services.

“The ISO Certification does provide Our Telekom customers [with] the assurance and confidence that their corporate data has the highest level of protection”, Mr. James said.

Our Telekom’s certification was issued by BSI Australia, an independent and accredited certification body based in Australia.

“Achieving ISO/IEC 27001 certification is a significant and important accomplishment. In terms of security and privacy, this highlights Our Telekom’s commitment to ensuring customer data is treated with respect while maintaining security controls and practices to the highest of standards” said Chris Meehan, Australia’s Chief Operating Officer at BSI.
