Telecommunications Act 2009

PUBLIC CONSULTATION-NATIONAL RADIO SPECTRUM PLAN

The Telecommunications Commission Solomon Islands is conducting a routine consultation on the country’s National Radio Spectrum Plan. This Plan sets out how various wireless communications activities are permitted to operate in different frequencies across the radio-frequency spectrum. It also contains the policies and procedures for allocating use of certain frequencies to particular users, such as mobile phone network operators, and radio and TV stations.

Any party interested in radio spectrum matters, who has not been contacted directly by the Commission and asked for their input, is nevertheless welcome to peruse the Plan and submit their views to the Commission about any issues it raises for them.

The Plan is a very large document, because of the myriad technical details it needs to contain. It can be viewed and down loaded from here.

People are also welcome to speak to Commission staff about the Plan’s contents. Appointments can be arranged with the Director of Regulatory Resources, Wilson Leguvaka, by telephoning him on 7655108

Those who wish to have their views taken into account should prepare a written submission, and present it to the Commission by 16 February 2016.

Submissions can be sent in by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or by post or delivery to Director Regulatory Resources, Telecommunications Commission, Box 2180 Honiara, Level 2 Alvaro Centre, Mendana Avenue.
